“I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”

Ephesian 4:1-3 ESV

OUR HISTORY

The Mount Trinity Missionary Baptist Church was founded and organized in November 1952 by the late Rev. B. H. Harmon, and along with the organizer, there were three members. The first worship service was held on November 16, 1952. After prayerful consideration and the Lord's help, we were on the way with the Mount Trinity Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. B. H. Harmon as Pastor.

As an infant, Mount Trinity had progressed up the ladder of success with its ups and downs, led by God, and with its earthly leader, it continued to grow. Under Rev. Harmon's leadership, six ministers answered the call to preach the Gospel, and two Deacons were ordained. The Deacons were Deacon H. Lane and Deacon O.V. Latin, who later was called into the ministry along with Rev. C.H. Moore, Rev. W.R. Drummer, Rev. N. Phillips, Rev. C. Conner, and Rev. E.C. Henderson. Some went on to become Pastors. Rev. Harmon served the church well for ten years.

In June of 1962, the church called Rev. E.C Henderson to be the Pastor, who then led the church for eleven years. There was one Deacon Ordained under his leadership, and that was Deacon S. Collins.

In November 1973, Rev. W.H. Hunter became Pastor. In six months, Rev. Hunter had baptized two members, and twenty came by Christian experience. In the same period, there were four Deacons ordained: Deacon G. Twyman, Deacon Paul Williams, Deacon Black, and Deacon Edwards.

In June of 1979, Rev. Paul U. Preston became the Pastor, and Deacon William E. Roberts and Deacon Sammie Wynn came also. There were numerous baptisms, and many came by Christian experience. We were growing spiritually, numerically, and financially. Even though we grew numerically, there were still the faithful few. The edifice was beautified; we had a mortgage-burning service and instituted a 'Program to Feed the Hungry.' First Lady Nell Preston founded the 'Virtuous Women of God Ministries' in 1990, which continues to this day. In December 2009, Rev Preston retired after over 30 years of faithful service.

In January 2010, Rev. Joseph Daniels, previously licensed by Rev. Preston and Ordained by the Brotherhood of Ministers, became the Interim Minister of Mount Trinity and carried on by preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the membership until May 2013.

In June of 2013, Rev. Dr. Willie Williams Sr. became Pastor. Pastor and First Lady Williams' children and grandchildren joined the church, some by Christian experience and some as candidates for baptism, thereby giving Mount Trinity a choir of lovely voices again to keep singing Praises to God.

Under the leadership of Pastor Willie Williams Sr. and the assistance of Bro. Joe Mitchell, Sunday parking for the church was solidified for the members. In addition, Prayer and teachers meetings, Mission on Monday nights, and the Extended Bible Study on Wednesday nights were established. In 2015, BTU (Baptist Training Union) was started on the First Sunday of every month by First Lady Arnella Williams.

To remember the legacy of the previous Pastors, pictures of Rev. Preston and Sis. Nell Preston and Pastor and First Lady Williams were placed on the wall in the vestibule. The Nell Preston Dining Hall was also dedicated in honor of the previous First Lady.

Pastor Willie Williams Sr. departed this life and gained an eternal one on October 27, 2016. He left a legacy of love with his wife and family and the membership of Mt. Trinity Missionary Baptist Church in teaching the Word to the Glory of God.

In August of 2023, the Mount Trinity Missionary Baptist church made history by calling the First Female Interim Pastor. Pastor-Elect Clarissa White. The daughter of the late Rev. Willie Williams Sr. Within this short time, two persons joined the church as a candidate for baptism and three by christian experience. Pastor-Elect White has reignited our Wednesday night Bible study, returned to raising monies for our building fund through the Graceful Growth Campaign, and has obtained substantial funds for the reconstruction of the foundation and renovation of our building. She has incorporated discipleship training, sunrise intercessory prayer, and has reintroduced our youth department with a new name, Rise With Purpose Youth Ministry. To God be the Glory for all He has done.

With God's help and through prayer, we move forward in the success of this endeavor to the Glory and Honor of God.
